Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actress best recognized for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she earned the Emmy Award. She has also starred in shows like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was born as the sole child from her mom who was a homemaker as well as a high-ranking executive of the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood in the company of four brothers. As a child she was aspired to become an official in the courtroom. After graduating from high school and moving in New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. When she was a teenager the first time she appeared as an actor was on the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Delaney an actress in her early years in the 80s, has been featured in a variety of TV films and dramas. Her professional career has been much more lucrative than her personal life. She has also experienced two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with alcoholism. In 2005, her custody was taken away from her.
